Junior Henderson Kwa kaw ka' wakw Artist Junior Henderson belongs to the Weikaium Band of the Kwa kwa' wakw Nation. He has been given the hereditary chief name "Udzistalis", from his father Chief Dan Henderson. Junior was initiated into the hamatsa society at the age of two and has been dancing traditionally ever since. Junior has inherited a special and sacred artistic talent from his grandfather Chief Sam Henderson. Junior began apprenticing with uncles Bill and Mark Henderson at a young age. He is also inspired by brother Johnathan Henderson, cousin Tommy Hunt, and especially Willie Seaweed. Junior has a special love of creving because of the vital role it plays in potlatches, and in the Kwa kwa ka' wakw culture. He also plays an important role in Campbell Rivers culture group, as a lead singer, dancer and mentor. His art is featured at the following galleries: |
