THE KITASOO FIRST NATION BY ELECTION

NOMINATION MEETING FOR ONE COUNCIL MEMBER

Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the Voters (Electors) of the Kitasoo First Nation will be held at the Kitasoo Xai Xais Government House - House of the Wolves Meeting Room on the 23rd day of May 2008 beginning at 6 o'clock PM to 9 o'clock PM. This meeting is for the purpose of nominating candidates for the position of one Council Member. There is 1 council position open for nomination.

NOTE: The Kitasoo First Nation is a Schedule 2 Band which means that the Chief Councilor is selected by council members elected to office. While Indian Act Regulations permit all members of the Band to vote for councilors, only persons who are ordinary resident of reserve lands can nominate candidates for councilor positions.
Voters residing on the reserve lands may nominate candidates for councilors in person or by using a written nomination form. The form is available from Sheila Bolton (Electoral Officer). It requires proper completion and is to be signed by a witness. Delivered nominations must be received by the Electoral Officer before the closure of the nomination meeting.
Mailed nominations not received by the Electoral Officer before the time of the meeting set for the nomination are considered void. Also note that any voter may vote by mail-in-ballot.
